"Scrabble" is a compostion of René Costy, Belgian composer, conductor, violonist and producer. Well known after James Yancey a.k.a Jay Dilla sampled the theme and the drum break for his song "Fuck The Police".
Originaly released in1972 on the label Chappell, in the Chappell Mood Music serie, this is the Vol. 26
Medline choosed to calm down the tempo. As an orchestra and elite musicians played in the original track, it would be hard to challenge them at the same speed. René Costy's chorus is exceptional, the following electric piano and trombone with a wah wah effect are also crazy.
For Medline, as a humble flute player and multi instrumentalist, the solution was to cool the tune and bring it down into his own and very personnal interpretation. The theme was slowed, at walk speed, to remove tension and cool the whole ambiance, instead of playing it at running speed.
